Blackwood Tours will pick you up at the port of Sydney, you will have 1/2 hour to get to your guide who will be waiting for you. Upon leaving the dock you will travel along the winding country roads of Cape Breton through Boisdale and Christmas Island with the Bras d ‘Or lakes in sight.
We will then come to the Highland Village, which is a live working village of the early 1700″s. Immerse yourself in the rich Gaelic culture with their costumed animators explaining and showing the way of life back then, in their native tongue, Gaelic. From there you will be taken to Goat Island.
Nestled alongside the beautiful Bras d”Or Lake ,the Eskasoni First Nation is the largest Mi’kmaq community in the world. Get an insiders look at this exceptional world with a Mi’kmaq cultural interpreter , who will take you to visit several villages along the 1.5 mile route, each one offering a unique experience.
Along the way, you’ll stop and experience aboriginal traditions such as smudging, a hunting and fishing interpretation, basket making, bread making, dancing, storytelling, and more.
